To Roomba or not to Roomba?
My friend Pam up in Tennessee is all gaga about her new vacuum cleaner, one of those nifty appliances called Roombas that we’ve all seen advertised. I’ve never been interested in purchasing one because, well, I don’t know why. Just never have. Pam, though, is gushy about the thing and insists I get one – she and her husband Marlin have been mesmerized by their new gadget.

In the greatest party-affiliation cover-up since the media tried to portray Gary Condit as a Republican, the media are refusing to mention the party affiliation of the thieving government officials in Bell, Calif.
There have been hundreds of news stories about Bell city officials' jaw-dropping salaries. In this poor city on the outskirts of Los Angeles, where the per capita annual income is $24,800 a year, the city manager, Robert Rizzo, had a salary of $787,637.
That's about twice what the president of the United States makes. (To be fair, Rizzo was doing a better job.)

Where’s the beef? Well, here, actually.
I thought that once I got my kids toilet trained and those kids got their own kids toilet trained, I wouldn’t ever have to watch a child sit on the pot again. But I was wrong. Now they’re showing it on television.
I understand that manufacturers want to sell diapers and such, and I suppose the best way to do that is to advertise them on the tube, but viewing folks in the process of taking care of that particular bodily function is not one of my favorite activities. I don’t care how old they are.

Contrary to the popular belief that P.T. Barnum coined the phrase “There’s a sucker born every minute,” and I have generally suspected this to be true, but now I have to agree with banker David Hannum who has since been credited with the phrase. But I have to add, if it’s not every minute; it has to be more.

Rumors of Congressional Democrats privately expressing disapproval of the Obama administration's actions and policies have been given more credence by such things as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's public criticism of White House spokesman Robert Gibbs. But when two long-time Democratic pollsters, Patrick Cad-dell and Douglas Schoen, called President Obama “cynical” and “racially divisive,” that was a dramatic statement. It was like saying that the emperor has no clothes.

MISSISSIPPI ENTERTAINER’S BIRTHRIGHT
It has been at least twenty years since the idea of a Mississippi Entertainment Hall of Fame Museum originated. In the meantime, Tennessee has cashed in on Mississippi-born Elvis Presley, and the rest of the nation does not know that our state leads the other forty-nine states, per capita, of state-born famous entertainers. No, Jimmy Buffett was not born in Alabama. Britney Spears was not born in Louisiana. The list goes on and on.

This is a special piece that the publisher of the Gazette wanted me to write on the Chicago Blues in 2006. It ran on April 6, 2006, after the trip to Chicago the previous February. It was a great trip, and a wonderfully different experience. Many people asked me if it would be possible to run the piece again. So I guess you know the answer to that one!

Well, maybe you’re wondering why the religion editor of The Gazette is writing a special feature on the blues. Good question and an easy answer: I love the blues.
“But,” you may say, “it’s not spiritual.”
And I say, “Oh, but it is deeply spiritual!”

Past U. S. President Lyndon B. Johnson’s (LBJ) 1964 Neshoba County Civil Rights “Event” is again making headlines. The intimidation of Mississippi’s population will be continued by the press as long as we purchase their intimidating message and their articles listed for sale!
The tragic murder of the three Civil Rights workers (Chaney, Schwerner and Goodman) was a barbaric act by a group of thugs, some of whom called themselves Christians. I was 39 years old in the US Navy living in Washington, D. C. when this LBJ EVENT took place.
