Last Saturday there was an estate sale in Amite County. While there I noticed a bird's nest on the porch. Mama was getting a little nervous as I was trying to get close enough for a good shot. She was ready to feed her babies.

Last Saturday's farmer's market was a good one. Items ranged from watermelons, green plums, plants, tomatoes, squash, blueberries, milk, green beans, jellies and jams and homemade items. come early before it gets too hot.

Beacham Memorial Hospital purchased the Family Practice Clinic in Osyka from Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center on May 19. Beacham Administration and its Board of Trustees arrived at the decision to make the purchase several weeks ago. All decided, after due diligence, that this would be a good move for the citizens of Osyka, the surrounding community as well for Beacham Memorial Hospital.

The State Games of Mississippi is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help at the 2010 Games, the state's premier amateur sports festival. Competition for the State Games of Mississippi will be spread over all four weekends in June, with venues not only in Meridian and Lauderdale County, but also in 15 other counties. The Opening Ceremonies, sponsored by AT&T, will be Friday, June 18, in Downtown Meridian.

This weekend was all about the one and only B. B. King. The Silver Star Convention Center in Philadelphia was completely sold out, and B. B. Was on stage for two hours, singing old time favorites and a couple of new ones. He gave a replica of "Lucille" to Choctaw Chief Randall before he began. And of course, the Gazette was there. Did I have good time? Let's just say I am ready to do it all over again.

Before the end of quail season, Crawford and Garland Lampton of Magnolia went on their first quail hunt with their father Dr. Luke Lampton and friend Vernon Carter, a longtime quail hunter of Gillsburg, at Zack Rushing's farm north of Tylertown. Garland and Vernon hunted from a golf cart while Crawford and Doc walked the fields. A wonderful time was had by all. Osyka Family Clinic on Highway 51 in Osyka will soon be under new management. At Osyka's City Board meeting Tuesday night, Beacham Memorial Hospital Administrator Guy Geller revealed to city board members that Southwest Hospital of McComb was selling the clinic to the Magnolia hospital, effective May 19.
