The House That Couldn't

No matter how hard it tried, the house across from South Pike High School could not be moved. As it traveled on Myrtle Street and got to the corner of North Prewett and Myrtle, it couldn't go any further. The house was, lets just say, a tad too wide. The Anders house did not look that big, but when it was being hauled away, one realized just how big and long the house was. So the only thing to do was, take a little off the side. The side of the house behind the utility pole in the photo above was removed so the house would fit. Looking at the phot, you can see the utility pole is definitely in the way. So if this one was, so was every pole on Myrtle Street. Plus, how would it make the turn on to Hwy. 51? The house was finally moved on Wednesday morning as the paper was going to press. See those photos next week.
