Public Enemy Number 1? Why Is South Mississippi Focused On Sunday's Big Game?

The rest of the country may be talking about the Massachusetts Senate race (By the way, way to go Senator Brown!), but down in South Mississippi our minds are focused, perhaps obsessed is a better word, with Sunday’s NFC Championship Game. That game, which starts at 5:40 p. m. in New Orleans, pits the Saints vs. the Minnesota Vikings in a game which leaves many South Mississippi Saints fans with ambivalent feelings.
We sure want the Saints to win and take advantage of this historic opportunity to erase their image as longtime losers by going to (and winning) the Superbowl. That said, most South Mississippians also love old Brett Favre, the Kiln, Mississippi native who has set NFL record after record and who at forty is showing guts and talent which impresses anyone who watches him.
So, the Saints have got to win, and we sure are going to be sad when Favre’s team loses. But, you know, even though we love old Brett, Who Dat! The Saints must win! Look for Mardi Gras celebrations to start early if they do!
