Governor Haley Barbour requested Attorney General Jim Hood challenge the constitutionality of the health-care reform legislation approved by the U.S. Congress.
The bill has serious constitutional problems, Governor Barbour said, starting with the fact that it forces individuals to purchase health insurance.

On Tuesday morning, Claude Hamilton was in the process of cutting down a very tall tree on the side of Tamor Veterinary Services. He first cut off all the limbs then cut sections of the trunk until it was safe to cut completely down. All this is in preparation for the new veterinary building.

Poet R. C. Wood coming to Magnolia Library on April 15th Noon: Signing of book of poetry occurs in Memphis. A recent poetry reading, followed by a book signing, by Gazette Literary Editor R. C. Wood occurred in Memphis, Tennessee at the Rhodes College Bookstore. Gazette office manager Nancy Morris organized the event at the respected Memphis college which Arcy taught at for more that 25 years.

The Osyka Easter Reunion of the Williams and Elarton families and descendants is set for Saturday, April 3.
This special event will be held at the home of Doug and Becky Elarton Elarton, 1191 Elarton Road.

Ivey Wells, widow of Vernon "Catfish" Wells holds a plaque that hangs in the American Legion Hut. "Catfish"was overseer at the hut for more that 30 years.
