Armchair Ponderings
Debate, Ha!
Guy Geller
Last night I, like millions of viewers were not necessarily shocked at the debacle entitled “presidential debate.” We suspected that the President was on a downward trend regarding his cognitive function, but not quite to that extent. We all saw it so I don’t have to point out any particular statement even though some were whoppers. “No military have died under my watch!” I can think of 18 in Afghanistan.
Many of his statements will be regurgitated over the next few weeks; so, I will let others do that. What I will do is to express my disappointment that of all the people, his number one care giver Dr. Gill, though she is an educator and not a medical Doctor. The fact that she would allow him the embarrassment that we saw, instead of escorting him off the stage as she does so well is somewhat incomprehensible. Evi-dently her love for the spotlight goes beyond her love for him.
Now the question of Article 25 comes to mind. However, there is a conundrum there. If the President is removed, the Vice-President must be the one to take over. I feel sure that the Democratic Hierarchy does not want that. Probably the best thing is to let him struggle with either a shadow President or a triumvirate consisting of Dr. Jill, V.P. Harris and perhaps the attorney general.
We must hope that Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran are concerned enough with an impending Presidency of Donald Trump, that none of the bunch will feel foolish enough to jump into the fray.
The Democratic task now is to try to put Humpty dumpty back together again while blaming anyone or anything for what your lying eyes saw.
I actually feel sorry for Joe Biden, he should never have been allowed to run for President. The decision is up to him now, does he stay in and face possible defeat or bow out graciously before the convention.
