Algie was born to Claude and Gertrude Boone on May 28, 1924, in Sartinville, MS. He was the 5th of 11 children. His roots in a Methodist and Nazarene home in Sartinville were the enduring source of his faithful life.

Following high school, he joined the Army on May 5, 1943, and fought in the Pacific during WWII. He was one of 5 brothers who fought simultaneously in the war. Algie was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his exemplary and sacrificial service to the nation. He has been honored in recent years by the Veterans of Colorado and enjoyed The Honors Flight military program which included a ceremonial visit to Washington DC.

Algie was married to Virginia Ruth Cox on November 24, 1950, in Nashville, TN. They moved to McComb, shortly after the wedding. Algie worked as a route driver for Sunbeam Bakery and Maco Candy Company. His long-term work was for Sears and Roebuck where he excelled as an award winning salesman for over 20 years. He served thousands of McComb families during this period.

Following Sears, he worked as a salesman for Eisworth Motors and Day Motors. His love of cars resulted in buying and selling cars from the front yard during his retirement.

Algie found joy in talking with his international ham radio friends, selling things on the swap column, making homemade ice cream, hunting, and entertaining friends in his home.

He served as a head usher, board member, choir member, and generous supporter in the McComb First Church of the Nazarene. He was elected to represent the church at state and international assemblies across the years.

Algie and Ruth are survived by 3 children: Dan and Denise Boone, Vickie and Chuck Watson, and Rose and Bryan Alison. They have 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. The Boone family from Sartinville numbers over 200 relatives today.

Algie lived on South Locust Street in McComb for almost 65 years until moving to Bedford, TX and then Greeley, CO to live with/near his daughters who cared for him with loving affection during his final years. He is also preceded in death by Nina Lovell Boone whom he married in 2014. Algie died on May 16, 2026, 12 days short of his 102nd birthday. God has answered his prayers to go home to his beloved family and friends who have waited to welcome him into the arms of a loving God.

Visitation will be at the Hartman-Jones Funeral Home on Friday, June 5, from 8:30AM to 10AM followed by the service at 10AM with burial in the Hollywood Cemetery.
