On April 4, 2025, Bobbie Gaston Kenna passed from this life into eternal rest. She was born on February 26, 1930 in Noxapater, MS, the daughter of Robert T. Gaston and Gladys Ligon Gaston.

At an early age her parents moved to Calhoun City, MS where she attended and graduated from Calhoun City schools. Mrs. Kenna attended MS State College for Women and graduated in 1952 with a BS Degree in Elementary Education.

She taught in the Natchez Public School system for many years at The Institute, Morgantown Elementary School and Adams County Christian School. Her family then moved to McComb, where she continued her role as an educator teaching 2nd grade at Otken Elementary School until she retired in 1992.

After moving to Natchez, she met and married her husband, Joseph Eugene Kenna, on August 15, 1953. They made Natchez their home until 1973 when they moved to McComb.

Throughout her career in education, she held memberships in Alpha Delta Kappa and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was also a member of many historical and genealogical organizations: Isaac Ross Chapter of Colonial Dames XVII Century, MS Chapter of Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America, Judith Robinson Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, MS Huguenot Society, the Ligon Family and Kinsmen Association and Calhoun County Historical and Genealogical Society. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in McComb and a former member of Pilgrimage Garden Club of Natchez.

She is survived by 2 sons, Joey Kenna (Lynne), and Bob Kenna; 2 grandsons, Drew Kenna (Kery), and Ben Kenna; 3 great grandsons, Mack, Myers and Silas Kenna; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Kenna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Amy Kenna Miller; 2 sisters, Rebecca Gaston Dye and Mable Gaston; and 1 brother, Robert Gaston.

A visitation was held April 7, from 10:30AM until 11:30AM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home, and was followed by a 12 noon graveside service with Connie Felter officiating. Her grandsons also participated in the service by providing scripture, prayer and the eulogy. Interment and service were at Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit.
