Bobby Ray Taylor, 91 of McComb, passed away January 25, 2025 at SMRMC.
He was born Thursday, August 3, 1933.
Visitation was held on January 28, 2025 from 9AM until services at 11AM at Sharkey Funeral Home. Burial followed in Pike
Memorial Gardens in McComb. Pastor Rick Kennedy did officiate. Sharkey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Bobby Taylor was a man of diverse interests and a strong community spirit.
He was an active member of the Summit Rotary Club and the local basketball league, demonstrating his love for both service and sports. His faith was important to him, serving as a deacon at New Heights Baptist Church.
He enjoyed the camaraderie of the Gold Wing Rural Riders, exploring the open road on his motorcycle. Bobby’s passion for the outdoors was evident in his volunteer work with the National Park Service in Utah and his deep appreciation for the beauty of the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. A gifted craftsman, he found joy in restoring old trucks and spending time working on his property, connecting with the natural world.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hortense Boutwell Taylor; father, John David Taylor; mother, Cora Haile Taylor; brothers, James Taylor (Christine), Nelson Taylor (Ruby), Billy Taylor (Fern), AC Taylor (Marvel) and Pete Taylor (Felicia); sister, Lavada Odom (Clayton).
Survivors include his sister, Sue Powell (Felder) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations can be made to New Heights Baptist Church.
