Clemie Hewitt 1939 - 2025

Clemie Hewitt, 86, a resident of Summit, passed away November 25, 2025, at McComb Nursing and Rehabilitation. Visitation was Saturday, November 29, at Mars Hill Baptist Church from 9AM until services at 11AM. Dr. David Millican did officiate and burial was in the church cemetery. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Clemie was born on August 28, 1939 in Louisiana to the late, Richard Rex Strickland and Ophelia May Strickland.

She enjoyed puzzles, sewing, and reading. She was also a fan of gospel music and old country music. She was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church, and very much loved her church and the Lord. Clemie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Howard Hewitt, Jr.; her son Mickey Hewitt; her daughter Donna Smith and 2 grandchildren, Christina Smith and Bailey Durham.

She is survived by her daughter Gwen H. Durham; 2 grandchildren Kinnedy F. Mahan (Jeffery) and Hylan C. Durham; 2 great-grandchildren, Dakota Smith and Jillian Smith; 1 sister JoAnn Lott (Wayne); along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Pallbearers were family and friends.
