Coon Leahey 1954 - 2026 Coon Leahey, age 71, passed away suddenly at his home in Liberty, on July 9, 2026. He was born on October 30, 1954. He was a devoted son, husband, father, and Pawpaw.
Working in the auto parts industry for over 50 years and owning Amite Auto Parts in Liberty for 21 years, he was very knowledgeable and dependable to all his customers. He loved watching all sports and was a huge LSU Tigers Fan. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing basketball and fast pitch softball, where stories of his expertise at 3rd base are still talked about.
Coon is survived by his wife of 45 years, Martha; daughter and son-in-law Kristen and Nelson Etheridge; 2 grandsons Brayton Latham and Bryson Etheridge; mother Lorraine Crawford; brother Jim Leahey; brother-in-law Jerry Cummings; sister-in-law Judy Johnson (Thomas); sister-in-law Patricia Cummings; and numerous nieces and nephews. His family was his pride and joy, especially his two grandsons, Brayton and Bryson. Whether it was teaching them the auto part business, always providing them with that quarter for the gumball machine, throwing a baseball or shooting basketball with them, or just sitting down to visit, he enjoyed every minute with his boys.
He never met a stranger, was known near and far, and always greeted you with a comforting and welcoming smile. He was loved by so many that knew him and he will be greatly missed. Pallbearers were Tony Clark, Steve Moore, John Massey, Richie Fulgham, Adam Sterling and James Hughey.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 13, at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty, from 6PM to 8PM. Visitation continued on Tuesday, July 14, at 10AM until time of funeral service starting at 11AM. Services were officiated by Bro.
Brock Burch and Bro. Shan Van Norman. Interment followed at Liberty Cemetery.
