Eileen Pearl Hutchinson Cato (beloved mother) born August 30, 1919, passed peacefully on September 6, 2026, at home surrounded by family.
Visitation will be Friday, September 11, from 9AM to 11AM with services to follow at J.J. White Presbyterian Church.
Eileen was happily married for 63 years to Joseph W. Cato of McComb until his passing in 2005.
She helped her husband operate the family business, Cato Shoe Shop, in McComb for 60 years.
She was a faithful daughter of Christ and a member of J.J. White Presbyterian Church for 76 years. She was an inspiration to many and loved by all in her church family.
Eileen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph W. Cato. As well as, her mother and father, Robert Hutchinson and Velma Whittington. She is also preceded by her 2 brothers and 4 sisters, Nolan Hutchinson, J.R. Hutchinson, Donis May, Florence Gatlin, Elease Deer, and Audrey Wilson.
She is survived by her devoted son, James W. Cato (Carol); 2 bonus granddaughters, Aubree Porter (Jeremy), and Megan McKenzie (David). She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly.
The family would like to thank Dr. Andy Watson and Dr. Chris Bracey for taking care of Eileen for many years. They would also like to thank the excellent staff of Compassus, and Dr. Luke Lampton who provided compassionate and gentle care for Eileen for the last seven months.
