Ernest "Buddy" McBeth, Sr. 77, of Summit, passed away February 19, 2026 at SMRMC in McComb.

Visitation was held on Saturday, February 21, at Hartman Jones Funeral Home, from 1PM until services there at 3PM. The Rev. JR McBeth and Rev. Max Landry did officiate.

Mr. McBeth was born October 1, 1948 in Picayune, MS to the late Earl and Selma McBeth. He served 2 tours during the Vietnam War as an Army mechanic. After returning home to Yazoo City, MS, he worked as a fireman for several years before being set up by his grandmother to go on a date with Margaret Stephens. After only three dates, they were married! They then started a family and relocated to Louisiana where he worked as a machinist for many years. Once he retired, they moved to Summit, to spoil grandchildren. He was a member of New Vision Community Church and previously served a deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Denham Springs, LA. His greatest joy was his family -- his children, grandchildren, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Selma McBeth; his sister Earline Thornhill; his brother Steven McBeth; and a nephew Jeppy Roberts.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years Margaret Stephens McBeth; his son JR McBeth and his wife Kristen; daughters Wendy McBeth and Tonya York; sisters Sue Guilliot and her husband Lones; Nancy Duell and her husband Norwood; his half-brother Charles Bennett; his cats Kat and Goat; along with great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and friends.
