Gayle Paulette Dillon Bass 1948 - 2025 Gayle Paulette Dillon Bass, 77, a resident of Summit, passed away on November 10, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family after a longfought illness. A visitation was held Wednesday, November 12, at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 5PM until 8PM, and continued Thursday, November 13, from 1PM until services at 2PM. Bro. Cannon Ward did officiate and burial was at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. Hartman Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Paulette was born on August 3, 1948 to the late William Marcus Dillon and Christine Thornton Dillon. She worked as a drug and alcohol addiction counselor where she helped others find their sobriety. She was sober for 36 years, 3 months, and 20 days! She was a loving wife, mother, Mamaw, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Daniel “Danny” Dillon; and her stepdaughter, Jennifer Kristine Bass. She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Dr. John Martin “Marty” Bass; 3 children Steve Johnston, Stephanie Hughes (William), and Patrick Kelly; 1 stepson Ric Bass; 11 grandchildren Lydia Muter, Haley Johnston (Dillon Borton), Evan Johnston, Megan Quin (Michael), Kelly Diaz (Adan), Christian Hughes (Kate), Vanessa Kelly (Austin), Austin Kelly, Eric Bass, Dallas Bass, and Hannah Kolonay (Austin); nineteen greatgrandchildren Michael, Piper, Melody, Magnolia, Jett, Michelle, Colton, Dalton, Gabe, Allie, Ozzy, Maverick, Georgia, Bently, Kyler, Amberleigh, Keaton, Dean, and Jennifer Louann; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Christian Hughes, Austin Kelly, William Hughes, Michael Quin, and Austin Kolonay. Honorary Pallbearers were Evan Johnston, who is currently serving our country overseas, and her great-grandsons. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Summit AA Group.
