I was reading one of my favorite daily writers, Jeff Childers, author of “Coffee & Covid” a Substack publication. Childers’ Monday June 30 article, “GIFTS AND GRIFTS” included the answer to a question I’ve been asking during the Trump era. “How does Trump do it?” Childers had been reading a story in the New York Times in which Kevin Hassett, director of the White House National Economic Council, had been cited. “It’s certainly not going to affect the negotiations. Because, in the end, people know President Trump is 100 percent serious, and they also have seen President Trump always wins.” The phrase jumped out at him: “President Trump always wins.” Of course! “TAW!” Childers is a clever writer and attorney! He said TAW was not a brag, but a “brand.” Then he referred to a Van Jones’ quote he’d used in another story saying, Trump is “a genius and the most powerful man in the world.” Jones’ cohost had asked, “How the h-ll did Donald Trump figure out where the culture was headed?” To which Jones replied, “This dude is a phenomenon. He is the most powerful human on earth and in our lifetime. We look like idiots.” Then Childers listed Jones bona fides: “Yale-educated attorney, Emmy-winning media producer, and veteran civil rights activist who served as Obama’s ‘Green Jobs Czar’ and is one of the most recognizable progressive voices on CNN.” The man has quite an impressive resume. Childers wrote, “he is arguably the smartest (and therefore most dangerous) political consultant on the left.” Finally, Childers quoted Jones answering the question: “Donald Trump is smarter than me, you, and all his critics. You know how I know? He has the White House, the Senate, the House, the Supreme Court, the popular vote, a massive media ecosystem bigger than the mainstream, a religious fervor of a movement, his best buddy is the richest person in the history of the world, and the most relevant Kennedy is with him. And yet we’re still saying, ‘how is this guy…’ We look like idiots.” Childers pointed out the obvious: “Van’s rant was not just satisfying to hear because it came from a smart progressive. It proved that they know.” Then he continued: “And, as Van persuasively pointed out, the way they know —the only language they understand— is because Trump Always Wins.” TAW. I recommend you read Jeff Childers’ Coffee & Covid if you like quick-witted writing and intelligent analysis of the day’s news. This edition of C&C answered more than one question. It explains why the left conspires to tell so many lies. The only way they can fight the truth is with lies. TAW. “No one is above the law.” Oh, if that were only true! One only needs to read the New York Post’s Miranda Devine to see decades of leftwing conspiracy theories and outright lies to understand why Americans distrust the media and the government. Devine wrote, “Obama’s Trump-Russia collusion report was corrupt from start: CIA review.” The story was published July 2, 2025. Like many Americans I continue to relish feelings of good old fashioned American patriotism. From passing and signing the One Big Beautiful Bill to the pomp and ceremony befitting a nation’s 249th birthday capped by fireworks and Susa’s band music. God has richly blessed America. TAW.
