Gwendolyn 'Gwen' Maxwell May

Gwendolyn “Gwen” Maxwell May 1952 - 2025 Gwendolyn “Gwen” Maxwell May, 72, of Bogue Chitto, passed away February 8, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Visitation was held on February 13, at First Baptist Church Summit from 11AM until services at 1PM. Private graveside services were held following the funeral service. Dr. Larry LeBlanc did officiate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Gwen was born on October 27, 1952 in McComb, to TJ Maxwell and Pearline Lofton Maxwell.

She was a member of First Baptist Church Summit, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She taught English at Southwest Mississippi Community College for 28 years. She enjoyed woodworking and crafting, along with cooking for family and spending quality time with her grandson and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister-in-law Carolyn Adams.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years George May; her children Karen May, and Keri Davis (Brad); a grandson Mason Davis; a brother Greg Maxwell (Jackie); nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Charles Andrews, Warren Adams, Tucker Adams, Tom Maxwell, Steven Brumfield, Adam Brumfield, John Roberts and Mason Davis.
