James H. Moore, Jr.

James H. Moore, Jr., 68, a resident of Jayess, passed away on March 2, 2026 at SMRMC. A graveside service was held on March 11, at Pike Memorial Gardens at 10AM. Dr. David Millican did officiate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. James was born on September 9, 1957 to the late James H. Moore, Sr. and Carolina 'Peanut' Moore. James retired from the City of McComb after 28 years of service as a utility foreman in the Public Works Department. The joy of his life was watching his grandchildren participate in sports and school activities. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and spending time with his dog 'Little Bit'. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jeannie Moore; his son James H. 'Hank' Moore, III; and his grandson Anthony 'Tony' Moore. He is survived by his son Michael Houston, Sr. (Carolyn); his daughter-in-law Nicole Moore; 3 grandchildren Michael Houston, Jr., Sara Houston, and Brody Moore; his brother William 'Ernie' Moore; his niece Alaina Mutchler (Blake); along with other relatives and friends. Honorary Pallbearers were the members of the McComb Fire Department, Kirk Haskins, and Josh Stinson. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wounded Warriors of Mississippi.
