Jimmy Dale Rhodus, 76, died on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 26, 1949, in Magnolia.

A visitation was held on April 9, at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 5PM until 8PM, and continued on April 10, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Osyka, from 12PM until services at 2PM. Burial was in the church cemetery and Bro. Brian Rhodus did officiate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jimmy grew up in Magnolia, where he developed a lifelong love for fastpitch softball, and he played throughout the Southeast for many years. He was known for his pitching and his competitive spirit on and off the field. Later in life, he traveled across the United States with his bowling team, bringing that same enthusiasm from the field to the lanes. Over the course of his career, he worked for Jack's Cookies, Lay's Potato Chips, and Pepsi-Cola. His greatest passion, however, was coaching pitchers in girls' fast-pitch softball, a pursuit that allowed him to mentor others while continuing to travel with his teams. He loved working with the students and staff of William Carey University, Petal High School, and Rhodus Fastpitch Academy in Summit.

Jimmy was known for his quick wit, love of storytelling, and the strong relationships he built throughout his life. He will be remembered for his love for the Lord and Alabama softball, and the lasting impression he made on all who knew him.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruth Helen Rhodus; a grandson, Jason Pine; and his beloved pal, Joe Joe.

He is survived by his 5 siblings, Betty, Randy, David, Greg, and Julius; his 3 daughters, Melissa Pine (Greg), Dawn Barron (Adam), and Kari Baker (Clay); his 8 grandchildren include Dustin Pine, Brittany Pine, Jennifer Barnidge, Brianna Jordan, Justin Barron, Kelsi Griffin, Brooke Baker, and Levi Baker. He was also blessed with 9 great-grandchildren: Landon, Nicholas, Able, Cash, Memphis, Myles, Rayna, Cohen, and Maggie Mae. In addition to his immediate family, Mr. Rhodus is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Pallbearers for his funeral service were Mike Rhodus, Barry Rhodus, Barry Smith, Jason Godbold, Mike Pounds, Clint Rhodus, Jimmy Finnegan, Tanner Rhodus, and Blake Rhodus.
