Joe Bailey Wilson, Jr. 1949 - 2025

Joe Bailey Wilson, Jr., 75, of McComb, passed away February 26, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. A visitation was held on March 3, at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 12PM until services at 2PM. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in New Iberia, LA at a later date. Hartman Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joe was born on November 16, 1949 to the late

Joe Bailey Wilson, Sr. and Elizabeth Gruell Wilson.

He was a Senior Production Operator with Exxon Mobil for 32 years. He was a decorated Sergeant in the US Marine Corps, serving as a correction officer, jailer, and guard. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal 1 Star, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Rifle Shooting Badge, and Sharpshooter Pistol Shooting Badge.

Joe enjoyed collecting model cars and college sports memorabilia. He loved to watch old westerns. He was a generous and selfless man who helped anyone who needed it.

He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Deucey Wilson; and one brother Billy Wilson.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years Kathy Schane Wilson; 2 children Joe B. Wilson, III, and Kay Wilson and her fiancé Mitchell Melton; 3 grandchildren Joe B. “Joe Joe” Wilson, IV, Daniel Melton, Lainey Wilson; 1 sister, Tari Ann LaCount; along with numerous other friends and family.
