Laness Lee Freeman 1935 - 2025

Laness Lee Freeman, of Summit, peacefully passed from this life into his heavenly home, at McComb Nursing and Rehabilitation, on December 8, at the age of 90.

He was born in Franklin County, on April 27, 1935, to Lee and Rosa Freeman.

He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

For many years Mr Freeman worked for Kellwood Company in Summit.

Mr. Freeman enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his sons. He loved coaching and watching his sons play Little League baseball. He also loved watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play baseball and softball. Over the years he developed a love for watching sports on TV, especially Women’s college basketball, boxing, and horseracing.

During the past year, as

Mr. Freeman was in the nursing home, he diligently did his physical therapy, even on the morning of his passing. He greatly enjoyed visits from family and friends. He especially looked forward to receiving cards from a special couple, Donald Lee and Jackie Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 66 years, Katie Wallace Freeman; a brother Amos Jefferson “AJ” Freeman; a sister Myrtle Freeman Burt; 1 grandson, James Lamar “Jamie” Freeman, II; and 1 great-granddaughter, Felicity Freeman.

Mr Freeman is survived by his sons, James Lamar “Buster” Freeman, Laron “Ronnie” (Lisa) Freeman, & Lynn “Bubba” (Tracy) Freeman; 7 Grandchildren: Joey (Julie) Freeman, Amy (Wes) Gaskin, Sonia (Christopher) Bergeron, Blake (Rachael) Freeman, Brent (Holly) Freeman, Aaron Jay “AJ” (Hillary) Freeman, & Johnathan (Claire) Freeman; 24 greatgrandchildren: Tyler, Layne, Johnny, Jayden, Jesse, & Julieanne Freeman; Bella, Lily, Katie, Kamp, & Knox Gaskin; Dusty & Brookelynn Philebar; Alexa & Jaxxon Bergeron; Lex, Connar, & Callen Freeman; Sera, Haze, Paisley, Barrett, & Bodi Freeman; Zoe & Zayden Freeman; & Ava Jane Freeman

Services were held on December 11, at Bethel Baptist Church in Bogue Chitto, with visitation at 12PM, and services at 2PM. Wes Gaskin did officiate. There will be no graveside service. Burial was in the church cemetary.

Pallbearers were: Joey Freeman, Blake Freeman, Brent Freeman, AJ Freeman, Johnathan Freeman, & Dusty Philebar. Honorary Pallbearers: Donald Lee Brown, Phillip King, & Hulon Wallace.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of McComb Nursing and Rehabilitation for of their loving caring and compassion.
