MAGNOLIA ARTIST COMPLETES GAZETTE MURAL---
Passersby have probably noticed Magnolia artist James Middleton, who is an internationally recognized artist, art historian, and specialist in Renaissance and Baroque opera, at work on a large mural on the western wall of the GAZETTE in the alleyway off Magnolia street. Researching the GAZETTE’S history, he found a nineteenth century flaghead of the GAZETTE which emphasized post-Civil War unity in this community, and he strove to recreate this image in color.
This piece of graphic artwork is painted directly to the GAZETTE’S exterior wall. He is shown here at work on the mural atop a ladder, paintbrush in hand and then another photograph features him standing in front of the completed work.
Come by the GAZETTE and take a gander at the lovely artwork. Mr. Middleton is planning another downtown mural with Dr. Lampton, so be on the lookout. (GAZETTE photo by L. Lampton)
