Margie M. Matthews 1933 - 2025 Mrs. Margie M. Matthews, 91, of Kenner, LA departed this earthly life on April 17, 2025, at her residence in Kenner. Visitation will be from 10-11AM on Saturday, May 3, at St. Thomas MB Church in New Orleans, LA 70125, with service following at 11AM. Interment will be on May 4, at 11AM in the Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Liberty, MS. Deaconess Margie Maxine Lucas Matthews was born to the late Eli Lucas and Jannie Bell Lucas in Liberty. She was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour at an early age at Parson Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Liberty. She was a graduate of Liberty Rosenwald School. She was employed and retired from Walmart and was a loving housewife after her retirement. Deaconess Margie M. Matthews was united in holy matrimony to Bro. Frank D. Matthews. To this union they were blessed with 3 children: Roman D. Matthews, Frankie Renee Matthews Adams, and Demetrius H. Matthews, Sr. Upon relocating to Louisiana Margie joined St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church under the leaderships of the late Rev. Dr. Benjamin J. Maxon, Jr, and Rev. W. Moore. Deaconess Matthews sang in the Mass Choir, was active in the Senior Saints, Women of Wisdom, Marriage Ministry, Deaconess Ministry, Sunday School, and Pastor’s Anniversary Committee. Deaconess Margie was proceeded in death by her parents, Eli Lucas and Jannie Bell Lucas; 4 sisters: Lizzie and Ruth Lucas, Lucille Holden, and Ray Ramsey; and 4 brothers: Moyese Lucas, Daniel Lucas, and Monet Lucas, and James Lucas; and 1 grandson, Devin Matthews. Deaconess Margie Maxine Matthews leaves her husband, Bro. Frank Matthews; 1 daughter, Frankie Matthews Adams (Lawerence), and 2 sons: Roman D. Matthews, and Demetrius H. Matthews (Lolitha).
