Mary Sue Smith, 75, a resident of Magnolia, passed away at Camellia Estates on 10/30/2026 after a lengthy illness.

Visitation was held on November 4, at East Union Baptist Church in Magnolia, from 9AM until services at 11AM. Rev. Wade Barnes and Rev. Hunter Wooldridge did officiate and burial did follow in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Will Cruise, Hagen Brister, Taylor Smith, Gabriel Davis, David McDonald and Mason Conerly. Honorary pallbearers were Mikey Smith, Dale Green, Joey Allen and Grady Cutrer.

She was born in McComb on October 22, 1951. She was raised east of Magnolia by her parents, Mason Tibbs Conerly and Bobbie Virginia Conerly.

She is reunited in peace with her loving husband of over 57 years, Snuffy Smith. Also preceding her in death are her parents; her baby sister, Donna Maples; and 2 brothers-in-law, Max McDonald and Curtis West.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Arnie Smith (Melanie) and Stevie Smith (Brandi). Her grandchildren are Hilarie Smith Cruise (Will), Mikaela Smith Brister (Hagen), Taylor Smith (Madison), Morgan Smith Davis (Gabriel), and Mikey Smith. Her great-grandchildren are Kinley, Ava, Carter, Joleigh, Evelyn, Josiah, and Watson. She is also survived by her sisters, Patricia McDonald, Brenda Green (Dale), and Linda West; her brother, Rickey Conerly (Linda); and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends whom she loved dearly.

Sue fell in love with Snuffy and married him at a young age, then moved with him to Germany while he served in the U.S. Army. They eventually returned to Magnolia, where they made their home and raised their family.

An active member of East Union Baptist Church, she served for many years in Children's Ministry as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. She also served on various committees and as the church treasurer. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, cooking, and baking. Her brownies are widely considered the best in the community!

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to East Union Baptist Church. The Family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Mary Kraemer and Jessica Rayburn for the loving, compassionate care that they provided during Sue's final months. The family also extends its appreciation to the staff of Camellia Estates and Compassus Hospice for the exceptional care they provided.
