Peggy Jean Wallace May 1942 - 2025

Peggy Jean Wallace May, 82, passed away January 17, 2025 at the Meadville Convalescent Home.

Visitation was held on January 20, at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 10AM until services at 12PM, burial followed in Montgomery cemetery. Bro. Brandon Blackwell did officiate.

Mrs. Peggy was born March 27, 1942 to Patrick “Pat” Wallace and Nellie Hodges Wallace. She was raised and attended school in the Bogue Chitto Community. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Franklin Co. for many years; where she taught Sunday School. She owned and operated Southwest Framing Outlet until she retired just a few years ago.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; her infant daughter Debra Jean; and her husband of 47 years James D. May.

She is survived by her sons Edwin May (Sophia) and Jimmy May (Amanda); 4 grandchildren Jonathan May (Joan), Summer Swearingen (Dayce), Justin May (Chloe) and Austin May; great grandchildren River, Selah, and Trinity Swearingen and Kyrie and Maya May.

Pallbearers were Justin May, Austin May, Bowmar McGehee, Mayes McGehee, Lucas Godwin and David Steele.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Montgomery Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
