William Philip King, 81, a resident of Summit, passed away at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, on May 6.
A visitation was held Sunday, May 10, at Tangipahoa Baptist Church from 5PM until 8PM, and continued on Monday, May 11, from 11AM until services at 1PM. Burial was in the church cemetery and Bro. Mike Morris did officiate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Philip was born on April 2, 1945 to the late Sidney and Claudia King. He was always in for a good story and never met a stranger. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He loved horses. His especially loved his family and worked very hard for them. He always said he wanted to wear out, not rust out, and work until the day he died, and he did. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew, loved, and laughed with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Doris A. King; his granddaughter Allisson Murray; his great-granddaughter Rylan Boyd; 2 brothers Jimmy King and Tommy (Belva) King; and 1 nephew Scott King.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary King; his 6 children Lisa (Mike) Boyd, Raymond (Brenda) Murray, Rhonda (Artie) Faucet, Charles D. King, Jason (Amanda) Thames, and Phyllis (Dwight) Carr; his 15 grandchildren whom he loved dearly Allisha Murray, Anthony Murray, Blake Murray, Cole Murray, Alan Murray, Ashley Murray, Corey Alexander, Ryan Boyd, Jana Niknejad, Leanne Kim, Jake Case, Bradly Reeves, Stormie Thames, Anna Marie Carr and Colton Carr; his 13 great-grandchildren Emma Brooke, Brayden Murray, Alaia Murray, Ryder Boyd, Kipp Boyd, Kyndal Carft, Addy Craft, Remi Niknejad, Cozi Niknejad, Caden Dunaway, Ian Nieburg, Liam Carr, and River Carr; 1 special nephew Jay (Amy) King; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Pallbearers were Blake Murray, Cole Murray, Colton Carr, Jake Case, Bradly Reeves, Caden Dunaway, and Ian Nieburg. Honorary Pallbearers were Danny Ray Allred, Jehu Tate, Colonel Ray Frizell, John Roberts, Lance Varnado, Bubba Freeman, Oliver Lewis, Sid Siebert, Bobby Nelson, Walter Wiley Chisholm, and all of his current and former barber shop customers.
